The icing is kind of like a buttercream - it is my Mom's cake icing that she has used for years. Basically Crisco, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. I am making a topsy turvy cake and icing it with Mom's cake icing, then cutting polka dots out of black fondant and placing on the sides, and I just want to make sure it will stick alright.

Thanks for your input!!!

They should stick fine. If not, a tiny brush of water on the back of the fondant pieces or a small dab of icing will work for 'glue'

I also agree that the fondant should stick.
