Hi All! I'm making a Curious George cake for my son's 5th birthday party. I have JUST started delving into the world of fondant, so I'm pretty insecure and niave about it.
I'm making a 1/2 sheet cake with a wonder mold on top. George will be sitting on top of the wonder mold. I've created a monkey, but I'm not sure that it actually looks like George! Any feedback or suggestions about what I can do?
Also, how do I store him until Saturday?
Thanks for any suggestions or info!
awww he's adorable!
i saw this one monkey cake in which she painted brown stripes on the bananas. it made it look a lot more realistic.
Thanks Dandelion! I do intend to add some color to the bananas, as well as add some red dots to George's hat. I'm going to wait until Friday when I have the rest of the cake done.
mnmmommy -- you might be on to something. I think his body is out of proportion with his head. He's dried enough at this point that I probably couldn't do it without starting from scratch. But I think you're right and that's why he looks so strange to me!
He's cute and love the bananas..what if the dark brown came around his head more like his forehead and side burns..if that makes any since..sure your little 5 year old is gonna love it!
I think he's very cute. But, I think that his head/face doesn't quite look like Curious George. He DOES however, look like a monkey...
I like your monkey! He's a cutie!
I won't dare attempt a monkey, so good for you.
You son will love him!!
