I am using a duncan hines moist deluxe cake mix. How much of the batter goes into the 5x3 pan.
Do i fill the pan 1 inch from the top, 1/2 way, 75% full, etc?
It is a small magic line cake pan so do i change the temp of the oven?
How long should it cook in the oven?
Total newbie at this.
Also if you make a batch of butter cream icing can left over frosting be frozen?
TIA

That is a small pan..don't use all of the batter for this pan.
One cake mix is good for two 8 inch.. fill it up on up to half of the pan.. Then the rest put in another pan. icon_smile.gif

If you want to level it in the pan, which is a great way to get a nice, level cake, fill it at least 3/4 and stick a flower nail upside down in the middle ( spray with Pam first )

I would bake at 350 or whatever you normally bake this recipe at and watch it so if it starts to brown too much on the outside while the inside is jiggly, you can always knock it down to 325.
