I made a cake for my aunt's 50th birthday in April, recently a lady asked me to give her a price for the cake because she may order one. I told her $100.00, was this fair? She has not responded to my price yet. The cake is 6" 8" 10" all fondant with a styrofoam hat covered in fondant.

Using Earlene's chart (bigger slices than Wilton's) that cake serves 53. I would have charged $3/serving plus $20 for the hat, so I think she is getting a steal of a deal. icon_wink.gif

I have learned some people will pay what you deserve and some people won't! I think it is more than fair price. You did a great job! People forget that we are not the common grocery store bakeries! Good luck!

I dont' work with fondant but I appreciate the extra work that goes into it. I think $100 is a bargain.... the cake is beautiful!

Thanks for this post. My MIL and I had dinner last night, and she told me people from her daughters bday party want to know what I charge for cakes. (you can see the Twins one in my pics). I want to charge people $75.00 for something similar to that one.

Everyone on this site is so encouraging about keeping our prices up, it really helps those of us that have no idea what we are doing LOL!

I did an anniverary cake that size. I charged $140. So yes i think thats a good deal. I think most people don't realize how much work goes into these cakes! They tend to think it's easy to throw together eggs and flour then cover it in icing...lol
