This was my first 2 layer cake. I did apple blossoms as a bottom border and victorian roses for the top borders. The bottom petal base took 4 cake mixes to get it to that size.

That is an adorable cake!! Great job on it.
I've not baked a petal cake yet but would like to, so they are difficult to ice?

Very pretty cake! I agree...the petal shaped cake is a "toughy" to get the icing on right..it takes a little extra work, but well worth it!

thanks so much for all the great compliments! The petal shaped cake was hard to ice but using the angled spatcula made it alot easier. I used 2 receipes of butter cream for the bottom layer only.
