I have a question do you have to secure the saran wrap in any way or do you litrally just "drop it in". It just seems too easy for me! lol
QUESTION:
How do you refill the bag if you didn't have enough icing in the plug? Or do you just take out the empty plug and add a new one?
newlyweds--thank you so much for posting this with pictures. I read about this method on another thread and tried it, but couldn't figure it out! I did so much better with the step-by-step 'tutorial' you posted! Thanks again!!
i saw the tip before but could not picture it. thanks for the great pictures. its a good tip. thanks.
This is one of the best tips yet !!!!
Thanks soo much for sharing with us !!
I am going to try this next week for a b-day cake !
Just tried this tonight, and it worked like a charm! I didn't even have to wash the featherweight bag (usually a greasy nasty mess!), I only had to clean the tip! Thanks for the time-saver! I will use it often and pass along to others!!!
its a great tip but it seems like a lot of work i defintly wouldnt want to do it if i was going to have to fill the back several times but i can see how it would tone down some of the mess.
I tried it today and it rawked!!! It was so easy, and cut down on the mess!!!WOO HOO!!!
This is great. I hate getting icing on my hands and I hate filling the bag. Thanks for the great tip.
This is a awesome trick!!
I hate cleaning the featherweights and they fly all over the dishwasher (even with a clothespin hold them to the rack).
Thanks, B
I tried this last night. What a fantastic tip!!! Thanks sooo much. I iced 3 cakes last night and the piping bag was still clean!! So easy to re-fill too.
FANTASTIC!!!

great idea! Thanks. Will this work for both buttercream and royal icing as well? I don't know if this was asked. I didn't read every page of this thread.

Last year i went to a seminar where one of the demonstrators showed us something similar to this but using a freezer bag, that she pulled through the bag and filled with royal icing. It never occured to me to use it with buttercream. This is a lot better i think, because you dont have to remove the tip.
sooo cool

YAY! This is why I love CC! I learn something new everyday! I can't wait to try this out. I've heard of it before, just never really knew how do it. Thanks a bunch for the pic tutorial too! It helps for those of us who are visual learners
I do this all the time now. And it has saved me alot of mess and ALOT of money. Like today I did 2 cakes and used four bags with several colors. If some of the icing got in the bag all I had to do was flush it out with some HOT water. I didn't think it would work with Royal now I know I can use a freezer bag and it will. Thanks for the tip boonenati
OOOOOO, that is so awesome! That is the exact reason I love this site! Thanks so much for sharing!
This is awsome, I can see that striping will be much easier. And the cleanup - wow, what a plus. Thanks for posting.
I've done this same thing using a plastic storage or sandwich bags (the ones with twist ties). Make a knot to tie the end closed and cut a hole in a corner of the bag then insert the cut end in the tip. Same concept but the bags work easier for me and they're something I always have.
I am so going to use this tonight!! Great tip!!
I always have a huge mess this seems like it will really help me!!!
This was great...I had seen previous posts about this before, but the pictures helped. (visual learner). Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
