On Earlene's instructions she says to knead in one drop of oil flavoring to the fondant. Is this necessary? I'm all set up to make some pearls, but I don't have any of the oil flavoring.

Thanks!

I just roll fondant to an even thickness, cut and roll. Once dried slightly I pop in a ziploc with pearl dust, shake gently and dump into container.

I make homemade fondant and I like the flavor as it is already!!

I've done pearls straight out of fondant, without any flavoring.

Somehow I always have pearls to make for cakes, they are very popular now. I always used MMF, even though some say it doesn't work as well. I've been blessed with no problems to date. The only time I have ever used flavorings is when I wanted to tint them a little and then I just used plain old vanilla extract.

I make mine from MMF........just did about 400 of them Saturday, and I don't add oil, after I cut them out and have my girls roll them icon_twisted.gif I put into a ziplock bag with pearl dust, then let sit out to dry overnight.

I've seen those you can buy, but aren't they very hard?
