HI! I am new to this board and trying to figure out how to make a cake that my mom purchased at the bakery years ago. It was a white cake with lemon filling - then had a fluffy lemon topping. The other one was a chocolate cake with fluffy chocolate topping.
I called the bakery today to find out how they made it to get a general idea and the girl just said that it's lemon filling mixed with whipped topping. SO....I'm wondering if they use the Bettercream whipped topping or something else for it. It needs to be refrigerated. They also make it in a few different flavors like strawberry, cherry, and raspberry.
Another baker by me makes the same cake - they call them Dream Cakes and are $39.99 for a 1/2 sheet.
I'd love to get some help with this.
the only Dream Cake I have heard of is on the Dream Whipbox.... and one way I would think you can get fluffy lemon frosting/topping would be to make the dream whip frosting, with lemon extract.... in fact that sounds wonderful!
The cake is real easy. The icing is a container of cool whip with a half of a can of lemon pie filling. The lemon cake I make is just the box mix (lemon flavor) baked in 2 layers. You put about 1/3 to 1/2 of the can of lemon pie filling between the layers and use the rest of it to mix with the cool whip to frost the sides and top with. It makes a wonderful lemon cake that is so easy!! I get lots of complitments on it all the time.
