I am finally getting the final touches done to my kitchen to get licensed, but I have yet to come up with a name I am satisfied with. I live out in the country in Southeast Georgia. The place that I have my kitchen as always been called "The Barn" by my husband and his family. I had been thinking "The Cake Barn", but I don't know if I really like that because I may move my business into town in a couple of years. Most people that know about my cakes just know me by Christy's Cakes, but I would like something more original. Help!!! I have seen some great names being thrown out there, so I am counting on ya'll!!!!!
Thanks!!!
after veiwing your gallery how about christy's Amazing Cake Creations
wow
you do great work
I think Christie's Cakes is nice............what I want to know is how are you doing the icing plaques??? Is it just royal icing in the shape you're after and then you're laying an edible image on top???
I vote for Christy's Cake Barn, too. That way, when you're operating out of your world-renown, fancy-schmancy bakery in town on day, you'll still have the great story to tell about where your name came from.
Thanks so much everyone for your input! I knew I could count on CC!!!!

They are edible images on a 50/50 gumpaste fondant mixture. The images are applied with piping gel and I let them dry overnight.

I TOTALLY agree with this statement!
Let us know what you decide.
Christy-
I agree with Christy's Cake Barn too. Or what about "ChristyB Bakery" (it rymes!) I was wandering if you could post pictures of your new kitchen?
I like Christy's cake barn also. You could bring a barn motif into your new establishment. wide-plank hardwood floors, antique items scattered throughout. I've even seen people use chicken feeders (new of course) as candy dispensers. You could use different barn-type items as decorative displays for your cakes and other creations. You could also use:

You'll have quite your own little niche. People will feel more at home coming into your store.
Your consulting table could be like an old farmhouse table. Be prepared to pour some milk when you sit down with your customers!!!
although Christies Cake Barn sounds good I like Christies Cakery a lot better. It gives it that touch of class... and no issues when you can move your store. Plus Christies Cakery sound like quality goods just by the name.
I like Christy B Cakery. No offence, but I don't really like the Barn idea. I think you might lose out on a lot of pricy and affluent (sp?) orders with barn in the title. Your cakes are really great. The barn just makes me think of Dress Barn or something.
I think that Christy's cake Barn is cute cute...but some people might not get the meaning behind it. It's super cute though.....and Christy's cakes is nice too. I'm just excited for you and your shop! how awesome is that! Congrats!
I say lose the Barn idea too. It reminds me of a women's dress store chain we have here in the east: The Dress Barn. I've always thought this was tacky. Cakes (or dresses for thst matter) don't go with barns!
I like Christy's Cakery.
I think Christy's Cake Barn is a nice touch to remind everyone that you have a "homemade" flavor to your creations.
Not that ANY of them look "homemade"! they are incredible..
It's the "CUSTOMER'S" perception of "homey"..which brings to mind a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Even when you move your place to town, that will still be the image that people will have in their heads.
Remember, perception is EVERYTHING!
Speaking as a girl out in the country who loves barns I do like Christy's Cake Barn. However, if you think you might move your business to town a ways down the road the the barn part might not feel as right. I also like Christy's Cakery very much. I have quite a dilema myself since I am going to get my tax id and can't decide on a name for my business. I will be doing both my cakes and my woodworking under the same tax # and don't want my name to be too cakey or too woody. LOL
