I need some ideas for a lighthouse birthday cake. My cousin wants me to do it for my aunt's birthday on Wednesday. Yes she is paying for it, the only time I give free cakes, is if they are the gift. I am clueless on what to do. Please help me.........

lots of rounds stacked and carved to get slanted shape.

can adjust size of rounds to get smaller as go nearer top so as less to cut away (of course that means less for cake balls)

top is backed in soup can OR is several small rounds cut using biscuit cutter from a regular single layer and then stacked.

roof could be mini-wonder carved or stack of small rounds carved.

pretzel sticks for uprights of railing and licorice lace for top of railing or could use more pretzels all glued togther w/ royal.

cover in crusting BC and paint stripe or in fondant w/ fondant strip.

added little lighthouse keeper's house as that's how I always envision lighthouses. that could be just a cube of cake w/ graham crackers to make roof.

Doug: You drew that out that quick? Thanks alot. It is Friday and it was rough at work this week and my brain is not working. Oh, by the way you and your niece baking together is awesome, that was so sweet. I bet you are a great uncle. Thanks again, sounds like a wonderful idea. I was going to do a slab cake, but I guess I will get creative and try this one.

I've done two. Not 3-D, but you didn't specify.

Only one uploaded ... I can't get the other picture to comply with the rules.
It is the last picture in my "Houses, buildings, and landscapes" album:

check in my photos! I have one that I did!

the tower was just a bunch of cupcakes...well, slightly bigger width. the only trick to keeping the tower on was I actually had to dowel it like a real stacked cake :p so, three dowels in a triangle and one in the middle...and mine wasn't that tall
