Hi! I wanted to try 2 tiered cake. Since am new, wanted advice. I was thinking of covering the cake with fondant, even the portion thats placed on the board. Is that ok? Also I would like to know if the top (2nd cake) can be placed directly on top of the 1st cake or should I place that also on a board then put it on the 1st cake? Please advice. as am new. I have no idea. And my son wants a 2 tiered cake (although at 1st he asked for 5 tiered cake icon_eek.gif )

Hi! Here's a tutorial that could answer your questions about constructing your tiered cake http://www.cakecentral.com/article23-Teired-Stacked-Cake-Construction.html. And yes, it's okay to cover your board with fondant. HTH.
