Hi all,

I've been wanting to know if there's any way to cut down the sweetness of frosting?

My frosting recipe has always been 3 egg whites, cream of tartar and lotsa icing sugar.

At times I would cut down the sugar on the cupcakes that I bake but apart from that is there any other way?

Thanks in advance!

I use the buttercream recipe using all shortening. I think it's really good. You can also do stabalized whipped cream if it's not a real detailed cake. Look in the recipe section under frosting or icing.

I use a touch of salt usually to cut down on sweetness. I have recently tried dragonworld's BC with flour in it and it isn't as sweet either. HTH

Supposedly popcorn salt is the one to try, though I have just used table salt meself.

Salt! Why do I never think of that. icon_redface.gif

SarahJane, I got a bad experience when I tried my very first BC. It *bleurgh* before I even got to deliver my cupcakes. However I'll keep on trying.

Thank you heaps!!
