An odd request but I have yet to turn one down!

A fellow local merchant expressed interest in a "topsy turvey" 3 tier rectangular shaped cake for her and her sisters 50th birthday. (They are twins) they're not looking for the usual whimsical decorations, but do want the slanted cake effect or the "ups and downs" of the last 50 years as she put it. My question is can this be done and be structually sturdy? I'm guesing that I would go ahead and bake 3 retangular cakes and then tort them on an angle and stack the reversed sides together via the correct size. (sheet, half sheet, quarter sheet). Will it need to be doweled? Am I crazy? Is this possible to pull off? Do you have any suggestions? I told her I would let her know by Monday evening whether or not I can provide this for her.

TIA for all of your help and support!

if you use this method >> CC whimsical how to

i don't see why not.

just a square instead of a circle...same concept to cut the well.

and of course, any tall stacked tier construction MUST be doweled.

in fact, thinking about this...could be a very insteresting looking cake.
