Hi. I bought some tool cookie cutters the other day and I want to make some for Father's Day. How can I get that nickel finish color that you would find on a saw and the head of a hammer?
thanks
tara
I'd use silver luster dust on a grey background. It would work on RI and Color Flow after they have dried. See my avatar.
wow! I love that cake. my sister would go nuts for that cake.
thanks for the advice. I'll give it a try and since its for my own dad if they are not "perfect" he'll still eat 'em!
I have a picture of tools in my photos where I colored the royal gray and then painted the "metal" parts with silver luster dust. HTH
those are like the cutters i just bought.
so, did they make it half way accross the country?? I wanted to ship my cookies to relatives but was afraid of what they would show up looking like.

They did make it, with only one broken. One of the pliers broke, which I wasn't too surprised about since they are more fragile than the others. I wrapped them in bubble wrap in a small box and then added more bubble wrap...nothing was moving in that box...they were packed in tight!Good luck with your cookies...I can't wait to see the picture!
I also have a picture of tools that I did in my album - they were very easy to do. I used silver MMF and silver luster dust and it worked great.
If you apply luster dust after the RI has dried, won't the liquid break down the RI??? this is where I get nervous
It didn't hurt mine at all. I just mixed the luster dust with a little extract and brushed it on. HTH
I've also used it on RI and didn't have any problems. Just make sure that it's really dried and you should be fine!
