Hi Roxylee,  I now have my mix on sale and have sold quite a few. They are on Australian ebay under the name Chantilly lace icing. I have just made a cake took 4hrs last night even had to cover the cake with fondant first.

Just out of curiosity, how is it that the Chantilly Lace has been a selling member of Ebay since 2013, but you say that you've just "cracked the formula" in the last few months? I suggest that you buy an ad on here or other forums if you want to sell your product.

AHi costumaczar,

I don't think I need to answer this question but the eBay account is my husbands account and he lets me use it. I have been selling this lace product for only a short while to ebay customers and. Cake decorators . With very good results. I have also been giving a sample of the lace mix. To cake decoration shops for them to try it and give me there verdict. Hope this answers your question. what is the shelf life?  does it keep as long as fondant?  Can you freeze it and then thaw before filling the forms?  Can you freeze the lace once it is made?

AThanks Dawn for the recipe... Tried it and yey!!! It works... I doubled the amount of water though as it became so thick. And since I dont have tylose i tried the wilton gumtex :)

Does this need to be baked? If so, what temp and how long? Or does it just set up at room temp. I am not sure if my mats are oven safe. Thanks for your help.

Your welcome for the recipe, however now someone is profiting off of it on youtube, and yes you do need to add some water to it as you think necessary.  I'm a bit upset right now as I did not post this for someone to just run and make a video of the total recipe and profit on my creation.  I did however improve on it by adding some glycerin to it.

You can help it along in drying quicker if you have high humidity in your home by putting it in the oven at about 100 to 170 degrees, keep an eye on it, don't let it dry out to much as you will probably want to put on a second coat.  When you do, pop it back in and wait till the sheen comes off of the lace.  Its a good idea to use a veg spray on your mat first or cornstarch, I prefer the veg spray... but not too much!!!  Cornstarch on it seems to make it brittle.

Not sure if this would help anyone, since this post was last seen in 2014, but "Baking Savvy" found a very easy way to make homemade edible lace, very similar to the SugarVeil kind by using Royal Icing Mix and Tylose and some water.

You can find the video on how she does it in YouTube by searching for the title " 3 Ingredient Homemade SugarVeil".
