Okay, this seems like a stupid question, but how do you freeze cake? I am making a caterpillar cake for my daughter's first bday on Sunday and want to make the cakes ahead and just decorate that morning. How do I need to wrap the cake- plastic wrap, foil, both. How many layers?

Thanks,

Amy

I wrap in 2 layers of Saran wrap and 2 layers of Foil. When taking out of the freezer I let them come to room temp before I unwrap them. They are just as fresh as when I made them!

After it has cooled, I wrap it well in saran wrap, then in foil. Then usually I will take it out of the freezer to thaw the night before, but don't unwrap it. The condensation will adhere to your wrapping, instead of going back into your cake (which wil make a soggy cake)
