Americolor makes an ivory that works great and it wouldn't take much to acheive a nice ivory color.
When I am making buttercream and I want it to be cream colored, I use butter flavored crisco and vanilla extract that is not clear. I think it is a nice, rich color.
i also use the cheap, brown vanilla and usually regular yellow margerine... makes a nice cream/ivory color.

I use regular vanilla instead of clear when I want cream icing. That way when I'm doing a huge cake with lots of icing my icing is all the same color.
