Hi, I would like to ask do any of you put your cakes in the fridge before icing? I heard about doing that because every time I frost my cakes I end up with cake crumbs in the frosting. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Some people do refrigerate their cakes prior to icing them, or they even do it when they are partially frozen. Do you crumb coat? I like to crumb coat, then refrigerate the cake for 25-30 minutes, then put on a nice thick layer of buttercream.

I do the same as kelleym. Crumb coating works well!

Yep. I freeze them and it does hold the crumbs better. Especially chocolate cakes.

If I am using the cake for that day to decorate, I will still put it in the frig, it helps it firm up alittle so it doesn't fall apart so easy.
