How are these used? These fake cakes I have now are hollow and come with a 'ring separator.' I've used stryofoam cakes for deco in the past but they were always solid. Are these rings so that I can make a layer 4" instead of 3" if needed? They are finished nice and smooth, though. My solid ones were always crumbing stryrofoam. Any info on the Ring Separators would be appreciated, thanks!

Sounds pretty interesting.....? what are they made out of. Maybe we can try and figure it out.
