Does anyone know of a icing that's just as good as Whipped cream. I must be the only person in the world that has a family that doesn't like buttercream. I need something that decorates as well, but tastes like whipped cream.

Thanks

Here's one you're supposed to be able to decorate with...

I have tried that recipe with no success. I don't know if I did it wrong but it just didn't work for me. I was just given this recipe:

Stabilized Whip Cream
1 tsp unflavored gelatin
2 Tbsp warm water(or Other Liquid, Ex. coffee)
1 Cup chilled whipping cream
1/3 Cup Confectioners sugar

Disolve gelatin in warm liquid, add to chilled cream, whip, then add sugar.
whip until peaks form

I haven't tried this myself yet, but a long time decorator gave me this recipe and she says she does all her decorating with it. Hopefull I will have an opportunity to try it soon. Good luck!! icon_biggrin.gif

Hi There JG556a
That recipe you listed that someone gave you is a very great recipe the stabilized whipped cream recipe.
I've tried it on my black forest cakes and it's fabulous from all the comments I receive about it.
It's really quite simple to do.
jUST REMEMBER TO CHILL YOUR STAINLESS STEEL BOWL AND BEATERS BEFORE MIXING.
I heat the gelatin and water until it dissolves then leave it to cool,as I whip the cream, powdered sugar and extract combinations then I slowly add the gelatin just make sure it doesn't cool back to a thick stage(the gelatin) once you add it to the cream it's fabulous just remember
don't over mix or you'll have butter icon_redface.gif

Hi im new to the board. You are not alone! My family HATES buttercream!
I just tried this recipe out and everyone loved it! icon_biggrin.gif

1 cup crisco
4 cups powerderd sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp whipping cream

Beat criso untill fluffy
Add sugar one cup at a time mixing well
Now add extracts. (You may want to let the salt dissolve in them first)
Add whipping cream. You can add more if you want.

This icing does crust but it dosent get hard. I really liked working with it.
I havent tried making any flowers. I did make a fbct and it worked fabulos!

I think it may be similar to Wiltons extra special buttercream.
