I need some ideas for my daughter who is going to be 2. I did a princess cake last year for her 1st bday. It was a 2 tiered with a tiara on top with royal icing roses. But I don't know what to do this year. Any ideas will help. Thanks!!

What does she like right now?
If she likes animals a kitty, puppy, farm or jungle cake.
Does she have a favorite character like Strawberry Shortcake or Dora, there are lots of cakes done with that.
If she likes dress up and tea party stuff how about a teapot and cups?
How about a doll cake, there are some wonderful ones that are done as Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty.
Butterflys or faries might be a good way to go too.

My daughter is also turning 2 (on June 2nd). I am going to do a ladybug/butterfly cake similar to this one by jdogga...

Last year I did a beach theme and made a sand castle cake. And for my older daughter I've done Elmo, Dora, and a princess castle. Your daughter will love anything you decide to do for her! In fact, my 4-year-old now browses cake central with me to pick out her own birthday cake (this starts the week after her birthday and lasts all year!)

Congrats on your lilttle one's birthday! Hope you find a theme you like!

I thought I was the only one, my 4 year old has changed his mind 5 times this week and his birthday isn't until December. icon_lol.gif
My oldest is a little more firm in his decisions, he's stuck to wanting the Black Pearl for 4 months, his birthday isn't until October. icon_rolleyes.gif

Just wait till you are a grandmother. I have a 4 year old grandson whom looks over my shoulder to see which cake he wants. There are more cakes than I can ever make here for him.

is 2 too young for one of those Barbie doll cakes?? I've got all boys so I'm not sure icon_razz.gif I'm hoping to convince my brother and his wife to let me do one for their daughter's birthday next month but she'll be 3. *crossing fingers*

Isn't it funny that these little ones are so interested in their own cakes?!? I love having my 4-year old "help decorate" her own cake when I'm working on one of my own. Can never start them too young! In fact, at her 4th party, I had all the kids decorate their own little cakes to take home. I used the mini wondermold pan and they could make princesses or mountains. You'd be surprised at how many boys wanted to make a princess!

No, I don't think 2 is too young for a Barbie cake at all. In fact, my mom made me a Barbie cake every year on my borthday as a kid. That's what got me into decorating. I vividly remember my birthday cakes and I wanted my daughters to have that same experience.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. Her birthday is in Sept. so I still have time to think about it. Right now she likes the movie CARS. She isn't into anything girly since she has 3 older brothers and most of the stuff we have is boy stuff. I like the fairies or butterflies. I ask my boys what they want for their bday, then I look on here for ideas. Thanks again everyone!!!

oh yeah, cars is a good one icon_smile.gif Well, if she's still into that move in Sept, maybe you could do the girl car on there (sally). That would be cute icon_smile.gif
