I'm making a character cake for my son's birthday and I was just wondering if it would be possible to use the whipped icing to decorate the cake (with the usual stars). I love cakes frosted with the whipped icing and I thought I would try this, but I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried it and how it turned out ....before I waste my time on something that's not going to look right. Thanks so much for any information.

I don't know about the whipped icing. Is it stiff enough to hold a star shape? Also, I've heard that sometimes deep colors bleed.

I havent had probalems iwth decorating...but it tends to sag as it heats or lose shape so I would make sure that your frosting is nice and cold....and then if you seeit softening just put it in the fridge....cake and icing as needed ...I did tint it I didnt have a problem with bleeding.....hopes this helps
