The recipe that momof3 is referring to is the Bride's cake recipe from the The Cake Mix Doctor recipe book.
1 box of white cake mix
1 stick of butter
1 cup of milk
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
This is the most delicious and moist cake I've made so far.

I know this may be a bit late, but wait for the syrup to cool and then brush it on.
You could do both. I have a couple cakes in My Photos where I did a ruffle with a shell on top. Baby William's and Princess Dora come to mind.
AgentCakeBaker, does the butter make the cake have a yellow color? That recipe sounds really yummy .. I have a wedding cake to do on the 28th of this month.. I may try that recipe.
This couple wants a different type of cake.. they hate white cake.. they love yellow cake and they love red velvet .. So the bottom layer is to be red velvet, the next layer, yellow, the next layer up red velvet again and their layer is to be yellow .. this is my first like this lol
Ntertayneme-
In the CMD it says that the Bride's Cake is a pale, pale yellow. But I think that it would have a similar taste to a yellow cake because it uses whole eggs instead of just the whites.
