Okay so i have been using my poor hand mixer for over a year now, and i think its time for me to upgrade! Wahoo!. I was looking in the adds last night and i saw a stand mixer for $150 that was 700 Watts when the kitchen aid is $300 for 325 watts. Is it the more watts the better? Or what should i look for? I cant really afford a kitchen aid right now....
thanks for any advice!
I can't tell you about wattage, but Amazon almost always has their white 5 qt kitchenaid on sale for $179.99 with free shipping. That's a great deal, and only 30 bucks more than what you're looking to spend on another brand. And it comes with a free attachment, so it's a good deal.
I just purchased the Cuisanart 800 watt. I chose it over the Kitchen Aid not only for it's power, but it also has 3 other power areas where you can attach a blender, food processor etc. My favorite is it built in countdown timer! Sure beats the hand mixer it replaced!
Get the best mixer you can afford, you'll spend less in the long run because it won't break as soon.
KitchenAid has really good customer service.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I wouldnt trade it for anything. Totally worth the money. From what everyone says it will last you forever. And wattage only says how much electricity it uses not how hard it works. If you go to the kitchen aid websight they explain Flour Power.
thanks for all the help! I cant wait to move up in the cake decorating world! heheeh. Next i need a dishwasher! hheheheheh.
If the $150 one you are refering to is the JCPenny cooks one. I have it and so does my sister. Other than being a bit noisy I have had no issues with it. They are starting to come out with the attachments for it too.
if you get a kitchen aid, I would go for one of the higher end models, if you are going to be making alot of cakes, and fondant in there. I actually broke a kitchen aid. THe lower end models have plastic parts, and the higher end ones have metal parts. I bought my pro 5, at Koles for $245 after Tennessee's 9 1/2% sales tax. I bought it on sale, and used a 30% off coupon.
