Hello---
I need some help. New to this. My son wants a monkey cake for his 3rd b-day. It will be a large party, so I wanted to stack the monkey cake on top of a 12 x 19 sheet cake. Should I just set the cake on top, or do I need dowels, and cake board? Help please!!!

if it is a stand up monkey on a cake I would dowel it but if it is a flat monkey you can just sit it on the sheet cake. I am making a darth fader on top of a sheet cake and I am just going to lay it on the cake. If you are afraid it will move dowel it it won't hurt.

I agree w/ Poppie.....if it is stand up, dowl it, if it is flat, just put on top of the sheet cake, no cake board needed in between. Good Luck!

Whenever I stack cakes, I make sure to dowel the bottom cake. I am terrified to haev one cake sink into the next. I also use a cake board for easier separation.

I think I will dowel the cake, just to be sure--I would hate for it to look like a disappearing monkey cake!! thank you all so much for your input.
