I have a great recipe for sugar cookies, but seeing I do cakes and not cookies I would like to try...I have a few questions if you GREAT cookie decorators wouldn't mind answering.

1. What decorator tips do I need to get for RI (must haves for cookie decorating)
2. What is the best and prettiest icing to go on these cookies (I like the shiny type of icing...but I seen some decorated in a kind of thick icing and I like that look also
3. How do I do a outline and thin fill in? What is the consistency of the filler icing?

any more tips would be awesome if you would be willing to share icon_smile.gif

Making (or gonna try) a cookie bouquet for Mothers day icon_smile.gif

Also is their a great website for cookie cutters only???

TIA

I usually use a circle tip (a #1/#2/#3 usually do the job) and for filling in, I use a #5.

I would suggest you start off here (with Antonia74's tutorial; it'll definitely help you!):

http://www.cakecentral.com/article54-How-To-Bake--Decorate-Cookies.html

There are many different icings to choose from: Royal Icing (To get a little shine in your royal icing, you can add some corn syrup to it as well!), MMF, fondant, rolled buttercream, crusting buttercream, glace icing, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some others icon_razz.gif .

Have fun! thumbs_up.gif

I don't bake mine in. I put them in afterward while the cookie is still hot, and I don't have any problems with it. Have fun!!

Hmmm, interesting! How does this work for you? Do the sticks stay attached well? Does the candy become really hard? Does it affect the taste of the overall cookie? Sorry for the million questions but I usually stick my sticks in as soon as I take the cookies out of the oven and I'm kinda tired of doing that... LOL. There's always the possibility of the stick not staying in or it breaks the cookie... This seems like it would be a great alternative! icon_biggrin.gif
