Well, this recipe has been a family favorite for at least 5 generations...don't know much beyond that. It's very rich but not too sweet. The only modification I do is since it calls for uncooked eggs, I always buy the pasturized ones.

Nanny's Ice Cream (Wonderful)

Ingredients (for small 1.5 quart freezer):
3 cups half & half
3/4 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup + 1 Tblsp sugar
2 eggs (pasturized, if available)
5 Tspn vanilla
pinch of salt

Ingredients (for large 5 quart freezer...this is the original recipe):
2-1/2 quarts half & half
1-1/2 pints whipping cream
3 cups plus 3 Tblsp sugar
7 eggs
pinch of salt
7 Tblsp vanilla

Method:
Mix eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla with beater. Add a little half and half
to dissolve liquid and wash off beaters. Pour in whipping cream and stir gently with spoon. Pour into electric mixer and fill 2/3 full with half & half.
Freeze

DRAT - I haven't made this since last summer....But NOW I'm in the mood for it again. icon_surprised.gif) Guess I'll have to make some this weekend!
