I tried and I couldnt figure out what to do with the corners. So I just snipped off the extra fondant and folded the flap of fondant over and smoothed it into the side of the cake with Crisco. It looked like crap obviously. How do you do it?

If you haven't snipped off the corners, I would say try and fold the corners like a package or "hospital bed" corner. Normally, on a square cake, when covering w/ fondant, you start on the corners not the side, because the corners are the difficult part to cover. icon_smile.gif

Smooth the corners down FIRST. Once you do that you can slowly smooth the rest down. Make sure your corners stay down.
Use a pizza cutter or a knife to trim away SOME of the excess fondant as you go. When you are about doen smoothing you can trim the rest of it off.
