I made and icied my 15" round 3" high cake yesterday and today I can see through it a bit. Can I put another buttercream layer on it? Will it ruin it or help? Any Ideas????
Thanks!
I would give that a try! It sounds like it will work. You might want to lightly spray the cake with a bit of water first for easier coating??
Thanks for your suggestion.... I'm too scared to try it.
Has anybody ever done it and it worked or not?
I do not see why putting another layer of BC on would not work. To me it seems like it would just be like covering a crumb coat.
I'm with patton on that. Just covering a crumb coat. it should work great!
have a nice day

Are you wiping the spatula dry before using it? When I do it I dip the spatula in hot water, wipe dry, smooth icing, wipe off icing, dip in water and keep on going like that.
This is probably too late, but next time stick the cake in the fridge to chill it..The buttercream will get firm and you can just splap on another layer with no problems..
I'm glad your cake was fixed.
My icing changes colors when I use a BC with butter in it
Thanks for your replys!
I do put it in the fridge right away. and I do use hot water to smooth out the icing. My icing didn't change color. Thank goodness!!! I only use crisco in my icing.
Thanks againf for you replys!
