Did you check out the Kid's Birthday cake winner? That Dora looks a little menacing to me!! Yikes!!

I don't know if I'm going to enter--to chicken--but I think there are some wonderful decorators here that should submit a photo or two.

Going to the Master Classes would be SO cool!!!

Wow...that diaper bag cake is amazing! I'm really surprised they only received 1500 entries last year.

Well this is something to think about.....entries aren't due until 9/30/05 so we all have plenty of time to submit something......I'm not sure if I'm brave enough but I know there are some folks here that really should submit their amazing work!

Diane ~ it does say legal residents of the 50 United States. It doesn't say that you have to be here.

Yep... that is a scary dora! I think i'm going to try to come up with something for this contest. I just wish I didn't have to compete with people who have a culinary arts degree and 20+ years experience! What does a professional like that need the class for? It should be for people who still have a lot of techniques to learn! ok... sorry about the ranting. thumbs_up.gif

i was very excited about the contest, until i looked at last years entries...and realized that i could never seriously compete with them. i wish they would offer an amature contest, so most of us could stand a chance.

I AM WITH YOU MELODY. THEY SHOULD OFFER AN AMATURE CONTEST BECAUSE I WOULDN'T STAND A CHANCE EITHER. THOSE CAKES LOOK LIKE THE REAL OBJECTS. THEY ARE OUTRAGEOUS!

I know the feeling! The don't list any criteria besides being a resident. People that make cakes for a living don't need the classes. Maybe we should recommend an amature class to them.

Wow!! icon_eek.gif You guys weren't kidding! icon_eek.gif
I just saw last year's winners. They're pro's!!
Why would they need to win classes at the school???
People like us need that!!
Let us know if anyone gets a reply from Wilton about the amateur contest,
or if more of us should email them.

Thanks

Wow..I feel a little intimidated about entering this contest, but those with more confidence go for it!!! I entered the cakecentral's mothers day contest because I feel like a family here.. But where would I start, how would I come up with a different idea, a unique idea..hmm..this really is interesting, but scary!!!

You really should Godiva! Your cakes are fabulous! It would be so exciting for someone from CC to win. I thought about submitting one of my cakes too...one I'd already done but they require a front view photo and an aerial view one. I haven't taken any aerial view photos. Might just try to slip past with 2 front views.

I was told by someone who went to the Wilton school and she said that Wiltons take on cake contest are if they are going to pay for someone to come and take their course then they want someone who already knows the basics and can make a cake look like it. So that the person gets the most from the course, after all its called a Master Course or something? I dont know if I believe her, she's disgruntled because she didnt "pass" whatever that meant.
