I think cakes look 'finished' when something decorative is at the base.
I am making large round, fondant covered cake, I plan to roll out a 'shoestring' each of red and black fondant, then twist them around one another to form a long rope to place around the bottom edge. I can't see that this should be a problem. Then my brain kicks up another BRIGHT idea - why not do the exact same rope for the top rim - in my mind it looks fabulous, but is it gong to work? How am I going to fix it and are there any potential problems waiting for me?
Thoughts ideas...warnings welcome.

Thanks.

Howdy! I see no problem with your idea. Just slightly dampen the area you want to apply the rope to (a small paint brush works great) apply your rope the way you want it, and you'll be all set! Hope this helps. Carol

Hello Carol
Thanks for your thoughts - do you use good old fashioned water or some other wet stuff?
