i am trying to come up with an idea to make an aligator 3d cake so far my idea is to make 2 layers of the large12x18(something like that)sheet pan, shape it into an aligator the best i can then frost it and cover it with green fondant. i am wondering if my method will work and if it will be harder then it sounds to make look good. any sugg?

I know that loriemoms did an alligator cake. (It was huge!!) Maybe if you PM her, she could give you the instructions on how she made it (smaller scale of course).

Here's a link to the tutorial on how to make a crocodile cake:

My friend and I made a crocodile cake once and we just used one double layer 9 x 13 sheet cake. We just cut it up - about half of the cake for the body and the other half, we carved the snout and the legs; marshmallow for the eyes. It was a huge cake!!!

Hope this helps! ('icon_smile.gif')

There is a book called Party Animal Cakes that might help.
You can get it for super cheap on Amazon.

I made an alligator that looks very similar to Michelle's. It's carved from a double layer 12x18.
