Hi folks,

Please respond with your opinion. The more the better because I'm going with majority rules on this one....

I'm serving a lemon pound cake with a lemon filling. If this were your cake would you put lemon flavored frosting on top or would that be too much lemon? Would you go with a regular butter cream? Let me know what sounds best!

Thanks!! icon_smile.gif

I think this is totally up to you and the customer (if there is one). Both will work well. Regular buttercream will give a break on the lemon for if someone is not so into it. I would probably go with regular.

I agree with the OP. Buttercream is definately the way to go. The one time I tried doing lemon cake with lemon filling and lemon buttercream icing, it was way too much lemon!

What if you do chocolate frosting? Lemon and chocolate are very good together. Or you could do Raspberry if you want to keep it light.
