My daughter was making an adorable sunflower cake to donate to the hospital in which she volunteers. They were having a bake sale.

Anyway, she made the cutest little lady bugs on the sides. Suddenly it hit me, that should be our signature on our cakes. A lady bug. I've been thinking about a name and my husband's suggestion "doodle cakes" just wasn't right.

So, our name is going to be "ladybug cakes" and we'll sign our cakes with one of those little buggies.

I've even thought of an image. A Lady bug symbol with the words "Lady bug" on the top wing and "cakes" on the bottom wing. Could be really cute.

What do you guys think?

I love that name and the design idea!!! Extremely catchy. Maybe you could have a signature dessert with a ladybug on it so when people see it, they'll know that you made it and, with every cake that you make, put the ladybug somewhere near the cake or on it.

I love it. I am a ladybug fanatic. I would buy a cake from you just to have a ladybug on it! Can't wait to see your logo!

Could become a cute gimmick - like that guy who hides his daughter's name in all of his cartoons.

Where's the ladybug?

What a cute name! I love ladybugs, and so do my girls. I was wondering, though, since ladybugs are so small, if it would still look as cute if you put your name on the wings, since it would have to be fairly large. Maybe a flowing, curvy font and ladybug strategically placed would look better? Just my opinion, though icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the nice feedback, I'm thinking that the lady bug would be a fade background for the name.

dd just figured how to upload cake pictures so I'll have them on by the end of the week. I'll freehand a logo and load it too.

Just took a cake to the fire station in town...put my little ladybug right next to the flower spray. hehehe.

This is the sunflower cake that my dd made for the hospital bake sale. See the ladybugs...too cute! Lemon cake and bc filling and flowers. the centers of the flowers are mini chocolate chips.

Ok, My first reation to Ladybugs is a negative vibe. Of course, at our last house, we had a ladybug infestation and I would vacuum them up (STINKY!). And I am on the fence as to wether or not I like the idea of bugs on my cakes or anything I eat for that matter.

However, I think I might be an exception to the rules and just wanted to give you my reaction to your initial post. Good luck with whatever you do!

I think it's a cute idea. Are you just going to make a ton of these from royal so you can just stick one on each cake? What if the bugs don't go with the theme of the cake, will it be in the back somewhere?

Sounds like a terrific idea! Kind of like Where's Waldo on a cake!

I think that's Marc Brown of the Arthur (PBS) series.

Good luck!
