i bought some marzipan and want to make some roses....i have made fondant ones, do i make them exactly the same???...can i add flour so it is not at sticky?...help please!
Hi,
When you make marzipan roses, they will not be as delicate as gumpaste/fondant roses. They will also be much heavier. So you cannot make as many petals. I also found that I could not make the sepals, as they looked much too thick. I ended up painting them on with food colour. You can see the cake in my photos. It is the terracotta pot, the latest photo.
You have two options for making it less sticky...
If you add corn-flour, it will change the taste, but it is easier to handle.
If you add icing sugar, it will become much sweeter.
All the best,
Karen
