My kids just love the real sweet frosting from our local bakery. I have tried so many different frosting recipes and cannot seem to find one that satisfies their sweet tooth. Does anyone have a real sweet frosting (not a whipped cream recipe) recipe that you can use to decorate?
Shelly from NY
Wow- a frosting that is not sweet enough!!!
Bumping you since I am not a super sweet icing person.
I cut this recipe out of a Taste Of Home magazine awhile ago, but I haven't had the chance to try it. Quote from the magazine "Mom used this sweet frosting for all of our family birthday cakes. Now I use it on cakes for our three preschoolers. A big batch keeps for quite awhile in the refrigerator and is cheaper than canned frosting." HTH
BAKERY FROSTING
2 cups shortening
1/2 cup nondairy creamer
1 tsp almond extract
2 lbs powdered sugar
1/2 to 3/4 cups water
food coloring, optional
In a mixing bowl, beat the shortening, creamer and extract. Gradually beat in sugar. Add enough water until frosting reaches desired consistency. If desired, add food coloring. Store in fridge for up to 3 months. Bring to room temp before spreading.
Makes 8 cups
I also love sweet frosting, although I know most people don't. When I hear "don't give me the piece with all that frosting," I'm glad to take it!

Me too! Cake if just a method of delivering icing! I would eat a straight icing "cake".
