I don`t need that many cookies nor have the time right now to cook
that many. So I`m wondering, can the no fail recipe be 1/2 `ed with success? If not, and I make the whole batch, can the unused be frozen and used later?

Yes, it can be halved. I do it all the time, because my mixer bowl is a tad too small for the whole batch! NO problem!!

I've made a half batch several times, and it's quick and easy. It's also easy to freeze the dough - I roll it out between parchment sheets and then wrap in a ziploc bag, so the next time I need to make a few cookies I can just take it out and be ready to cut.

If you have time and freezer space, I'd probably make the whole batch and freeze half just for the convenience of having it ready for next time, but either way will work just fine.
