I have an anniversary cake to do for Thursday. She needs it for 60 people. Do you think a 12" square tiered with an 8" square would be big enought or should I go with the 14" and the 10"? I have gone through the Wilton books and some recipes say one thing and then the cake serving chart says another. Thank you for any help that you have!!
By Earlene's chart (I go by too) 8" will feed 12 & 12" will feed 60. Then 10" will feed 30 & 14" will feed 84. Go to her website & it will help you out. I use it all the time. earlenescakes.com
take a look here on the cake cutting guide... it says 12" cake is supposed to feed 72 and a 10" is supposed to feed 32...if its cut right... so I think you would be save as long as its cute right..

The wilton guide says there is more pieces then there is. Earlene's guide is right on the money. I don't trust wilton. I wouldn't have had enough cake if I would have used their guide.
So, my plan was to have a 12" with at 10" tier. I am going to do a basket weave for both tiers and have daisys kind of flowing over the edges. Do you think the 12 and the 10 will work together? This is what we had agreed on and then of course I am second guessing myself. Also, I am making the daisy's tomorrow, do you have a quick way to dry them?
Are you planning on making royal icing flowers or buttercream flowers? There is really no way to get them to dry faster. 10" & 12" would be fine. A rule of thumb is to get the bottom cake 2" or more larger then the top cake. It should be very pretty!
I am doing royal icing flowers. I know you should have more time, but this order just came in today.
OH, boy! When is it due? If you have at least 24 hours to let them dry before you have to deliver the cake they should be fine.
