Hello everyone!
I am new to this website and am searching for a way to make a tractor shaped cake without having to buy a new cake pan. (I'm a stay at home mom with a tight budget and another baby onthe way.... icon_wink.gif ) I don't have to mak ethe cake for a while yet, but I like to think about these things ahead of time.(I drive my mom nuts with this stuff...)
SO, if anyone has any ideas or directions, that would be great!!
Thanks for your help!!

Welcome to CakeCentral. You will find a lot of good info. here.

If you go to the galleries and click on 'search' and then type in tractor you will see a lot of cute tractor cake ideas. If you see one you really like you could send a private message (pm) to the person that made the cake asking for directions.

Hope this helps.

Here are a few I found, the first has instructions with it.

There is one shown on this forum that looks to be made with a cutup square cake or loaf cakes, it is the third post, first with a picture to open.

I have the book by Lindy Smith that has that tractor in it. I can give you some hints from the book if you like.

I love the lindy's cake tractor. As I am a savage experimenter when it comes to cake I would venture to say you can use a sheet cake pan and a bread loaf pan for the tractor and carve away from there. Fondant will give the tractor shape.

Thank you all so much for the pics and stuff. I really like the Lindy's cake, Fran can you give me some of those hints?? I would really appreciate it.
I have come up with other ideas for cakes for my daughter (last year I made a flower shaped cake from heart shaped pans, and I also made Nemo from a football pan) So other than character cakes I have never had to actually construct one. So I think I might be able to manage this. Like I said I have a little while to work on this.
Again, thank you everyone for your help and ideas....
