RaRaRobyn

Sometimes, if you have resized your avatar it will make it quit moving. When I finally found an avatar I liked I went to:

http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifworks.pl

...and there you can resize and even add text if you like. I hope this helps!

You'll also want to make sure you're saving it as a gif

Ok, lol, I post too soon, and I figured it out. It's 100x100 but I can't get it below 6kb!?

Not seeing anything that says how to do that.

got it, a little smaller than I want it, but I guess that's ok. I had to shape it to 50x50 icon_surprised.gif(

Sure, although you may have to resize it.

How small?

110 pixels, the height no greater than 110 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB. When you go into your forum info (on the left of this page) it's at the very bottom.

If you have a problem with it being to big, use this link to resize it.

http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifworks.pl?com=transfer_open

Then save it back to your computer so you can upload it to CC.

Ok I think this is it. It's a bit small though, hard to read.

If you convert it to gif format, you can use the link posted above to resize it. You'll be able to keep it larger in size by using reduce color which will reduce the kb without making it smaller.

Hi all,
I am having a problem trying to upload my avatar.
I get to the point of re-sizing it with the gifworks link but it just doesn't do anything.
Could it be too large to resize.
I'm new at this and it's trial and error. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean when you try to load it into this link:

http://www.gifworks.com/cgi-bin/gifworks.pl?com=transfer_open

It won't load it? Or is it loading it and when you see the picture it's not changing?

I can load it, but when I try to re-size it nothing happens.
I think it may be way too big anyway. It's 800x600 156KB
It is water lillies and I think when it's re-sized it may look odd. icon_rolleyes.gif
thanks, Karen

To find an avatar, you can do a google search for animated avatar or animated gif.
Several of the members, like myself and Lisa are good at making ones, finding ones, and resizing them.
Your avatar can't be larger than 110x110 pixels and 6KB file size.
www.gifworks.com is a good place for resizing animated gifs.

All right - I've tried several different Tinkerbell files and finally found one that is under 6 KB (my favorite one - an animated one, was almost 40KB! Yikes!)
Thanks for the helpful info! I had never even heard of an avatar until I found this website! I'm not only learning cake decorating stuff but how to be a computer whiz! Ha ha. As if.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've just spent WAY too much time trying to resize one of my pictures. I could get it to the 110x110 okay, but it was still 20 kb. I'll see if it's too small and then maybe go try some of those tricks mention (reducing colors and what not).
