Could someone please tell me if I should charge more for a square wedding cake versus a round one?

If you charge per serving, the square cakes will probably cost a little more, because you will get more servings out of them.

A square cake gives you a few more servings and is more difficult to ice, cover w/ fondant, etc. I charge slightly more.

I charge /serving so square is more than round because there are more servings.

I charge 50 cents more per serving to do a square wedding cake.
It takes me longer to do square.

It takes longer but there are more pieces so you will get more $ staying at the same price?

I fill orders for many wedding cakes each weekend and for instance, a 10" square is 50 servings and a 10" round is 48 servings. If I charge $3 per serving that will only be $6 extra dollars and in my shop that just isn't enough to cover the extra time involved for doing a square cake.
Of course if I were at home doing it I wouldn't need to make everything I do as profitable.

Oh, I use a different serving chart that's why I was thinking that. Mine shows a 10" round as 38 and a 10" square as 50. That would be a difference of $36
