I'm planning to make a cake for an out-of-state relative. It's going to be covered with fondant. Can I wrap it in plastic wrap? There won't be any raised decorations to crush, but I was wondering if the plastic wrap would damage the fondant. If plastic wrap wouldn't work, would wax paper?

Thanks for your advice!

I would try the plastic wrap... sorry I'm not more helpful, I've never shipped a cake!

If the cake shifts, and it probably will, the wrapping will mark the fondant. If you can fit it into a container where it won't move, then pack that into a cushioned package there is a very slim chance it will arrive undamaged.

Be sure nothing is perishable in the ingredients (filling/crumbcoat)
