I've got a recipe that calls for 1lb of pwd. sugar, but I bought a 7lbs bag. How many cups of sugar is equal to 1 lb?

I'm sure it's not 2 cups, (16oz.) Help?

4 cups is a lb of sugar. But when you sift it it won't be exactly 4 cups. So if you sift it measure it again & add more sifted sugar to make 4 cups

Thank you. I'm new to the cake decorating business. I'm having a lot of fun learning so far.
