hi
i was going to make my 2 yr old a hi-5 cake-the hand logo.
Do you think i should use fondant or mmf to coat the hand ifykwim? icon_smile.gif
i am not very experienced at decorating but i am a keen learner icon_smile.gif

I would do a FBCT. The hand logo would be a really easy one to do.

Of course, I don't really do much with fondant, so that's just me.

That's weird, I posted a reply to this topic and it didn't show up. I was mentioning a cake I saw on another site that was shaped to look like the hand. I mentioned a site called coolest-kids-birthdays.com as where I might have seen it. Sorry, can't remember, but I know we looked at alot of different sites I just searched in yahoo for Hi-5 cake ideas and went from there.

It'll be a good first one to try because it's "thick" and doesn't have a bunch of thin parts to break on you. You are going to love it! I can't wait to see it--post a pic when you are done!

It has turned out really well. congrats.

I have also made one by photocopying the front page of the colouring book with the hand on the front... I enlarged it slightly and then cut it out and placed it on a sheet cake and cut around it (carved the hand) and then coloured as per their colours... turned out well
