Showed My First Cake Tonight Berry Basket *chocoholic Alert*

Hi Everyone,
Well I got up the courage to try something and take it out in public. It was a friend of mine's birthday today, so I made up a cake (he is a chocoholic) and took it into work for him (we are also co-workers).
Immediately I had people bombarding me with questions on if I take orders, and can I do any other cakes etc. I was so amazed. I was feeling pretty down in the dumps about this cake cause it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted, but I felt much better after talking to everyone who saw it.
I'm attaching a picture of the cake as well. It is a double layer swiss chocolate cake, with no-cook fudge icing. The "basket" decoration as the border was made using the Chocolate Roses recipe from the site here. It is really easy to work with. I used one bag of frozen fruit which included raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries, and I added some glace cherries cause I didn't quite have enough to cover the cake. One modification I made to my recipes was that instead of using vanilla extract or vanilla flavorings, I used peppermint extract.....not a lot, just enough to give a hint of flavour, and it was a hit!!!!!
I'm glad I finally had the courage to show someone what I can try to do lol. Let me know what you all think.....
Keep on decorating
Melissa

How lucky he was to have such a great cake for his b-day. I think it looks great! It looks like it tasted that way to.mmmmmm.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
In case you were wondering, it took under 5 minutes from the time the kinfe hit the cake until the last piece was served.
I've been bombarded with questions, comments and orders ever since. Who knew it could happen so quickly, especially after your first "public" cake lol
Thanks Again everyone, and keep decorating

Heehee Melissa, at least they waited for it to be cut, I am surprised they didn't just dig in with a spoon or worse, their fingers, haha!
