For some of you that have been on the Wilton site, you have probably noticed and probably gotten a copy of Cakelady's recipes. I am curious to know if anyone has made the yellow butter cake or tried any of her icing recipes etc. Would like to hear feedbacks.
I just made this cake. It was not what I was expecting but it was good. I have been looking for a scratch recipe that is more like a cake mix texture.
This recipe is great. I will use it again. It is more like a light pound cake. It baked up nice and had a great taste. This cake would be great if I wanted to carve something from cake for cake construction.
Try her buttercream. It is really good as well. I think it is a bit on the greasy side but people like it because it is seems very light.
I am the person that sends them out on the site. Just wanted to remind folks not to post the recipes here if you are discussing them, as per the late Gladyce's wishes. Thought I would add that here just to be safe because it has happened on other sites where people started posting.
The yellow butter cakes are moist but dense. The icing is popular. The devil's food cake is well liked as is the pumpkin cake. I prefer the Wilton recipe for stabilized whipped cream over using the gelatine as per her recipe.
