I have my first wedding shower cake to make and it needs to be white with black accents. Any suggestions?

Well, the white should be no problem for you but black can be a whole other story!! When I just need black for accents, I use wilton's decorator icing tube! If I use a coupon, I can get it pretty cheap and I know it's going to be black without any hassle on my part!! Good-luck and welcome to CC!!

I thought about putting black ribbon on the cake. What do ya think?

I love the ribbon look, I would say that would be the easy way to get an elegant look. Good luck

Here's a second vote for the black ribbon. I think that would look great! And then wedding shower guests don't have to have black mouths after they eat the cake! icon_smile.gif

i made a shower cake that was pink and black and i made a black fondant ribbon for the bottom. this can be good for the white cake because you know it wont bleed into the cake like the black could do. the cake is in my gallery if you want to take a look icon_smile.gif

I agree, black ribbon would look really nice. Especially if you use one of the sheer shiny ribbons.

Are you going to do round or square?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will be doing a round cake (2 layer stacked). If I put the ribbon on the base of each layer what should I use for the top?

I think a black monogram would be a cool touch.

I need to know who made the cake that is pictured above. It's beautiful and it would be perfect for a wedding cake I have coming up.

TIA
