My niece's school celebrates Right to Read week with a family cake decorating contest-this contest is the reason I took decorating classes. The cakes that are made are amazing. Anyway, you can either do a cake on the theme, which this year is "Reading Power"-like the groovy, 60s-70s or an a specific book. Last year I did a cake on a book-The Alphabet Mystery with a xylophone and a red letter "x" cake- I think it's in my photos.

So, I'm looking for an idea for the Reading Power theme. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

out there idea:

kid reading a book or just thinking a bright idea (or both)

plugged into the library (as in sketch) or into a book.

(plug could go into side of library instead of top)

(make library look like the town's or the school's?)

You mean like Austin Powers? here's a couple of thoughts.
*Cake in psychedelic colors, with big flowers, and saying could be "Reading is grooovy, baby". Square cake on bottom to look like a stack of books, and smaller top cake in shape of a flower.
*Topsy- turvy cakes in patches of different patterns, colors, designs; with an open book on top with a small molded figure laying face down on the book, chin in hands, legs crossed in the air like he's reading the book.
