Has anyone tried using a flavoring other than vanilla in the No-Fail cookie recipe? I have some Lorann Oils...lemon & raspberry. I was thinking of using them but I'm not sure how much I should use & if it would even turn out tasting good. Any advice is appreciated icon_smile.gif

Does anyone know if this will work?

You can try adding some of The lorann oils to you cookies. If you think the flavor will be too strong just cut back. Experiment until you get it jut the way you like it.

I recently made a batch of no fail sugar cookies and replaced the vanilla essence with lemon essence, added orange rind, and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder. The cookies turned out great but I think I need to cut back on the lemon essence a bit.

Lagunacakelady - when you say lemon essence, does that mean you used lemon extract or lemon oil?

I've done lots of variations on those cookies, replacing the vanilla with:

-lemon extract
-orange extract
-almond extract
-diluted coffee crystals
-freshly grated citrus zest (lemon,orange,lime)
-crystalized ginger
-ground dried lavender (no pesticides only)
-ground rose petals (no pesticides only!)
-green tea powder
-ground dried ginger
-orange blossom water
-rose water

Sometimes you can substitute in a 1:1 ratio, but other times it's nicer to double it. Play around and you'll find what works for your taste. thumbs_up.gif

Thanks so much, antonia74!! I just wasn't sure if the recipe took other flavors well, I've tried some recipes that didn't....and I didn't want to make a batch and it not turn out...then have all that wasted dough! lol icon_rolleyes.gif I love some of those flavoring suggestions you listed...I must get busy!!

I had this idea...since my business name is SugarBelle's, I thought I'd flavor some of the cookies & then name them...like Lemon Sugar, Chocolate Sugar, Raspberry Sugar, etc., etc. I've got big round stickers that I'll be putting on the back of each cookie after they're wrapped, with my biz name/logo and contact # & a space for the 'cookie name'. Since some of these are going to be sold in a coffee shop I wanted to make sure that people knew they weren't a product of the shop & know who made them! I hope it works... icon_razz.gif

Hi, I meant lemon extract.
