I am planning on a banana cake with almond buttercream frosting for my father-in-law's 70th birthday party. I would like to use a filling other than the buttercream. Any ideas? Thanks.

how about a chocolate ganache and strawberries. You could make it like a banana spit.

A French Custard might be nice. It's pretty much pastry cream with whipped cream folded in. People around here love it.
